Two ways to care for the finish
Wax and ceramic coatings both add a protective layer over paint. Wax is usually quicker to apply and renew; a ceramic coating is designed for longer-lasting protection when prepared, applied and maintained correctly.
What a ceramic coating adds
A coating helps repel water and makes regular washing easier. It can enhance gloss and offer resistance to some everyday contamination, but bird droppings, insects and other deposits should still be removed promptly.
Our five-year coating option is applied after preparation and the level of polishing agreed for your car. The product’s rated lifespan depends on use and aftercare.
What 9H does — and does not — mean
9H is a pencil-hardness rating. It is not a promise that keys, grit or poor washing cannot scratch the finish. A coating also does not provide the physical stone-chip protection of paint protection film.
Choosing the right treatment
If you enjoy regularly applying wax, it can be a useful part of your routine. If you want longer-lasting protection and easier maintenance, consider a professionally prepared ceramic coating.
For paint with visible swirls or haze, we first assess whether paint correction would improve the finish. Contact our Stockport workshop to discuss your car and the way you use it.
