Does a Brand-New Car Need Polishing Before Ceramic Coating? — Millennium Detailing Stockport

New does not mean every finish is identical

A brand-new car can arrive in excellent condition, or with contamination and light marks from transport, storage or preparation. The starting point is inspection under suitable lighting. It is not a reason to assume the dealer has damaged the car or that every new vehicle requires extensive polishing.

Cleaning and polishing do different jobs

Washing removes loose dirt; appropriate decontamination addresses bonded deposits. Polishing refines suitable defects and gloss. Ceramic coating protects the prepared surface rather than removing swirl marks underneath it.

When is an enhancement appropriate?

Light haze or fine marks may justify a gentle enhancement. Deeper defects need individual assessment, and removing every mark is not always sensible. Paint correction should be planned around the available paint and realistic results.

What should I arrange before delivery?

Contact your installer with the model and expected handover date. Discuss the preparation you want with the supplying dealer and agree timing once delivery is confirmed. Do not skip any manufacturer-required delivery checks.

What should the quotation explain?

Ask about the inspected condition, proposed preparation, coating product, included surfaces and curing arrangements. If stone chips are your priority, compare PPF rather than expecting a ceramic coating to stop impacts.
